With it's upcycled furnishings, vintage jukebox and Art Deco piano, The Royal Oak is a lively and charming family and dog friendly pub in this historic Cotswolds town. The food is honest and hearty with a dedicated vegan menu and the six en-suite rooms, including three that are dog friendly, offer a perfect base to explore the Cotswolds.

Give Django Reinhardt a spin on the vintage jukebox and drop in for a quiz night or for a Sunday-night session on the 1920s Art Deco piano at this fun local hang-out handy for the chic boutiques of Tetbury. Rooms, with wooden floors and a stripped-back chic, are in an annexe across a cobbled courtyard. Some are dog-friendly, several have comfy seating areas, all have luxury toiletries along with serious style. They range from a very snug space with a shower over the bath in the bathroom to a showstopper suite with beams, a mezzanine, an in-room roll-top bath, walk-in rain shower, log-burner and balcony. You can dine in the bar or outside with your dog, or dogless upstairs under the rafters. Chef Stergios Pikos’s menus have ‘a firm vegan theme’: choose a beef burger or superfood burger, smoked tofish or beer-battered fish and chips, a one-pot stew of the day. In summer, world street food is dispensed from a silver Airstream trailer. ‘The cheerful young staff, the hubbub of a busy pub and some excellent food made for a very enjoyable stay.’ (DB)

The Cotswolds brand is almost universally known (and loved) in the UK.  The Cotswolds is seen as an area of impossibly pretty towns and villages set against a background of outstanding natural beauty. Unfortunately, many visitors to the Cotswolds only visit a handful of well-known villages and miss so much of what the Cotswolds has to offer.

Come to the Royal Oak Tetbury at lunchtime or in the evening and you’ll usually find this place buzzing: it’s a much-loved local as well as a weekender’s haven. Décor has been kept simple so as to show off the character of this 1780s building. In keeping with the overall feel-good factor, the restaurant offers well-priced fare based on seasonal produce. There’s a good range, from hearty and traditional pub dishes (burgers, risottos) to salads. For a treat, consider booking the Oak Lodge Suite, spectacular for its wood-beamed ceilings, free-standing bath, and views of the rolling Cotswolds countryside.
